Description
This student's family has been in a crisis ever since the father, who was the breadwinner, passed away in April 2023. He was working as a driver for a private firm but suffered a heart attack. The funeral expenses were taken care of by a relative. The student's mother began working as a domestic helper to make ends meet. She earns about Rs. 10,000 a month, which is not sufficient to pay the college fees. The student's young brother shifted from a private school to a government school after the death in the family. Keen on gaining college education and with a steady track record at college, the student has sought Aalayam's assistance to pay the fees that comes to a total of Rs. 62,000. In the first year, the mother had taken a jewel loan and will also pay a part of the fee this year. The family live in their own house that the father built a few years ago but it is not complete and plastering of walls is pending in some places. Aalayam will raise Rs. 25,000 to contribute towards the fee payment.
